Prototype update 2

Hello everyone and welcome to the second dev log on our upcoming game! We improved some aspects and figured out most of the design elements and we even have a name for it!

   RockSteady!

This week of development has been mostly focused on getting the two main documents ready and set for the beginning of the production: the Tech Document and the Art Bible. But don't worry, we also have some videos of new prototyping!

In the tech doc, we have the main conventions and rules explained and set in stone. We have refined our core mechanics and gameplay: there will be 3 different resources to pick up: Oxygen, to keep our astronaut alive, Energy, to make sure everything is up and running, and Materials to keep it all together! All of this needs to be refined at the ship before being useful, and before adding up to the scoreboard!

Our map will also be populated by 3 different biomes. Adding up to the Landing Area, our survivor will also have to explore an amusing Coral Forest, the sinister  Alien Cemetery and the mysteries of the Abandoned Village. These settings will provide immersion and some hints at where you are wondering... But that won't be the only dimensional factor in the game. The further you'll go from your spaceship, the higher the stakes... more resources and more asteroids! And now form the Art Bible: we don't yet have much concept art to show but some great ideas already took shape:

Last but not least let's not forget to mention another great contribution of our GD team in the prototyping department! We now have a functional terrain editor for environment design (supports save and export), which, alongside the biomes, will make this planet worth crashing into!

Event update: Wind Event is now being tested! A terrible storm will scatter the player and the resources around for a while, but don't worry, your spaceship's energy field can resist that too! (at least until the power is up...) Remember the asteroid impact from the last build? Now the craters are bigger and more proportionate to the danger!

And finally, some code optimization went online for our ragdoll system. Can't wait to se it in action!

Stay tuned!
